Ask your local lawmakers
to support Illinois’ craft breweries
The Brewers Economic Equity and Relief (BEER) Act of 2021 updates Prohibition-era alcohol regulations, giving Illinois brewers a much-needed lifeline as they navigate the Covid-19 pandemic.
Special interest groups with deep pockets are actively opposing the common-sense measures and are trying to convince lawmakers to keep things status quo. But the status quo is hurting our brewers. That’s why we need your help! You can make a difference by reaching out to your local representatives by mail, phone, email, or social media and asking them to support the BEER Act (SB 532 and HB 3495) |
THE BEER ACT
The BEER Act offers a lifeline to Illinois brewers by helping them reach customers and offset devastating economic losses stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic. Highlights of the legislation include:
- Permanent consumer delivery. Putting craft breweries on par with 30,000 bars, restaurants and retailers, the bill make delivery privileges permanent while expanding to allow delivery bythird-party service, such as Uber Eats.
- Direct-to-consumer shipping. Craft breweries would join wineries and other retailers in being allowed to ship product direct to consumers in Illinois, helping boost sales and reach new customers.
- Limited self-distribution. Allowing 150 brewpubs in the state the right to move up to 200 barrels of their product to local retailers on their own, something distributors are often not interesting in doing.
Special thanks to our legislative sponsors,
Sen. Bill Cunningham (18th district) and Rep. William Davis (30th district).
